The Ob/Gyn Postgraduate Conference: Advancing Women's Health sponsored by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at the hotelVetro & Conference Center in downtown Iowa City, Iowa. Dr. Sara Tikkanan, a senior resident in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, has been selected as a 2013 ACOG Gellhaus Fellow. The ACOG Gellhaus Fellowship offers three nationally selected senior residents a rare opportunity to fully immerse themselves into Washington politics. Gellhaus Fellows participate in a myriad of activities - political briefings, Hill staff meetings, conferences and fundraisers - and arms residents with the knowledge and tools to better advocate for the health of their patients and the sustainability of the specialty.
Dr. Rachel Maassen received the Excellence in Our Workplace Award from the University of Iowa Physicians. She was recognized as an outstanding clinician and director of the University of Iowa Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic. Her leadership efforts have ensured that the clinic is efficient and profitable, and that the experiences of the patients and care providers are also positive. Additionally, Dr. Maassen is cited for being a remarkable mentor, teacher, role model, and patient advocate.
