Trihalomethane Yields as a Function of Precursor Molecular-Weight
Environmental science & technology
DOI of Published Version
The trihalomethane (THM) yield on a total organic carbon basis was measured as a function of the molecular weight of precursor organics in the Iowa River. Gel permeation chromatography with Sephadex G-75 gel was utilized to separate naturally occurring organics into apparent molecular weight fractions that were subsequently chlorinated to 2 mg/L of free residual and analyzed for THMs.
