David Plowden has published twenty-two books capturing myriad aspects of America and the Midwest over a career spanning more than fifty years. A former University of Iowa professor, Plowden’s works are held in the permanent collections of major repositories such as the Library of Congress, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Art Institute of Chicago. On July 7, 2013, Mr. Plowden gave a lecture in the Old Senate Chamber of the Old Capitol Museum on the University of Iowa campus. His lecture focused on the creation of his latest book, David Plowden’s Iowa (Humanities Iowa, 2012). He also sat down with the History Corps for an extended interview.
