Description

Janet Weaver is the assistant curator of the Iowa Women’s Archives at the University of Iowa Libraries and a doctoral student in the History Department where her research focuses on U.S. labor and Latina/o history in Iowa. Since the 1970s she has been involved in oral history projects to preserve the history of those under-represented in traditional archives whose contributions have been marginalized from the telling of dominant historical narratives. Her role in the Archives’ Mujeres Latinas project put her in close collaboration with the Latino community in Davenport and the organization they founded over fifty years ago—the League of United Latin American Citizens, LULAC Council 10. She is the author of two articles on Mexican American activism in eastern Iowa.
