Abstract

Karen Kubby, co owner of Beadology, discusses her struggles and successes as the owner of a small shop located in the heart of downtown Iowa City.

The boutique we chose to look into is called Beadology in Iowa City. This boutique sells handcrafted jewelry, custom repair work, and offers classes regarding creating jewelry. We interviewed Karen Kubby the owner of Beadology and discovered her history and involvement of activism in the community. She explained to us how her past experiences effected the management and set up of the shop. It was very beneficial for us because we learned about how much someone's background and passions can effect an entire business.
