The gap between scientific literacy and illiteracy is growing exponentially in accords with the ever-changing field of science. Consequently, the “Talk Science to Me” podcast series sought to narrow this divide by teaching fundamental concepts, which are integral in many facets of health sciences. To accomplish the end, 6 self-contained episodes were generated to teach these components. Each episode was structured as a discussion between Chase Urias (a lay individual) and me (a scientist). During this discourse, Chase voiced any questions or misunderstandings that he had about the material, so that I could clarify appropriately. The final podcast was published on Stem-O-Sphere and advertised via social media and flyers. Understanding of the material and audience demographics were assessed through competency quizzes and surveys linked to the podcasts.
