Abstract

We examined two sets of data using Archivist: one detailing a search containing the words ‘8,’ ‘troops,’ ‘killed,’ and ‘Afghanistan’ conducted from October 27, 2009 to November 1, 2009, and the other describing tweets from December 7, 2009 to January 1, 2010 containing the words ‘Gates,’ ‘to,’ and ‘Afghanistan.’ Our goals are to identify how much global communication, in terms of language and commentary rate, is actually occurring concerning these topics, and to compare our results to the results of similar searches.
