Abstract
Corrects a false gender attribution in Edwin Haviland Miller's "Calendar of Letters Written to Whitman," in which Miller describes Ada H. Spalding's letter as from a male correspondent, and points out that another letter, attributed to "Pedalia (?) Bates," is in fact from women's rights activist Redelia Bates; explores the implications of these errors.
